Retirement planning both pre and post retirement.

retirement-optimWould you buy a car and not have it serviced or even lift the bonnet to check the oil? Periodically we all provide maintenance to objects in our daily life from gas boilers to lawnmowers, why because they work better with a service and do the job more efficiently.

We regularly find with our clients that one major purchase that is never or rarely serviced is their pension scheme. A regular review is so important, many of us start out with great intentions and a plan but somewhere along the way we get blown off course and as advisers it is our job to find out where you are, where you want to go and then plot a new course for you.

Over the years many pension providers have reduced costs and changed their pension ranges many times over and your pension company doesn't always pass these reduced charges on to you or are able to offer the benefits that the new plans give. At a client review we will obtain a whole host of details on your existing plan(s) and then sit down with you to discuss your options and make any changes necessary. In other words service your pension and retirement plans. This includes all of the usual pension schemes from personal pensions to SIPPS and former company schemes. It doesn't matter if you are paying money into them or not! most pension funds should be reviewed.

Closer to, or at the time when you wish to stop working we can work with you to look at the best way to access your funds. This could include buying an annuity, an enhanced annuity or one of the more flexible routes to taking the benefits from your hard earned fund.

As in building up and managing your fund advice is a must in accessing your pension fund at retirement so please contact us.

Accessing pension benefits early may impact on levels of retirement income and your entitlement to certain means tested benefits.

Accessing pension benefits is not suitable for everyone. You should seek advice to understand your options at retirement.
